Brighton agency to climb Kilimanjaro for Project Purpose

A Brighton-based recruitment agency is set to climb Mount Kilimanjaro this Christmas.

Hypha Rec2Rec, a recruitment specialist, will be taking on the Tanzanian mountain with a few of their previous placements.

This adventure is part of “Project Purpose,” an initiative aimed at personal and professional development within the recruitment industry.

The climb is not just a charity challenge for Hypha boss Vicky Wilson, who completed the climb in 2017.

Ms Wilson said: “Having completed the climb in 2017, I have first-hand experience of how inspiring and transformative the experience was.

“Purpose is so important and I believe Project Purpose will make me a better manager and more passionate recruiter.”

This transformative experience inspired the creation of “Project Purpose,” which aims to further develop recruiters as professionals and individuals.

Hypha invited candidates they had placed, who have been in their roles for over 12 months, to enter a draw to join Ms Wilson and her colleague Will on this journey.

Three winners from different local recruitment companies were selected.

This collaboration among potential competitors is seen as a testament to the project’s spirit.

The challenge is not for the faint-hearted.

Ms Wilson sees “Project Purpose” as a means of creating a community of resilient recruiters, eager to push boundaries in their careers and lives.

The trip is also about making a positive impact.

The team has partnered with Kilimanjaro Heroes, a Tanzanian tour operator committed to fair pay and staff development.

They will be fundraising for a local orphanage, which they will visit during their trip, and will also go on a wildlife safari through Tarangire National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.

Ms Wilson hopes this will not be the last “Project Purpose.”

She aims to reward recruiters and promote recruitment as a career path to graduates and sales professionals.
